PROJECT MONDO G

Editorial

ICONIC ART

Designed exclusively for the Mercedes-Benz and Moncler collaboration, the artwork combines the signature features of the iconic G-Class off-roader with the style-defining Moncler puffer jacket: a spectacular contrast between the edgy design of the G-Class and the soft, flowing lines of the quilted textile. Unmistakably, both functional products have become sought-after lifestyle items over the past decades. A sculpture emerges from the fusion of opposites. PROJECT MONDO G invites you to experience the transformation of functionality into an art icon with impressive dimensions: 4.6 meters long, 2.8 meters high, 3.4 meters wide (with wheels) and 2.5 tons in weight. A closer look reveals other characteristic features that have a concrete relationship to the original products and additionally create exciting contrasts: The rough patina is a visible trace of use that relates to functionality and practicality. A visual counterpoint to the perfect, high-gloss and reflective surfaces that underline the luxurious claim. Another deliberately eye-catching element is the huge zipper of the PROJECT MONDO G. It is a visible reference to the versatility and variability of both products, vehicle and jacket.

Mercedes-Benz broke completely new ground with the G-Class in 1979. The G-model was designed on the one hand as an off-road vehicle with a leisure character and on the other hand for tough everyday use, for example in the industrial or municipal sector. Shortly after the market launch, a continuous development process began that continues to this day. This is the key to the continued success of G-Kasse.
